Traveling to the UK

We found out some really interesting things about my hubby’s family and ancestors when we went to visit his brothers. One of his brothers, Jeff is really into genealogy and has done thousands of hours of work on research. The research has traced his family back to Scotland, Ireland and the United Kingdom. The coolest part is that they may be direct descendants of Robert the Bruce who was the “Scottish King”. Now Heather is starting to plan a trip as she has always wanted to travel there and now she plans on continuing research on the family.

I told her I would help to plan her trip since I love traveling so much; I thought it would be fun. Who knows, maybe I can go with and see the fashions and sites of London first hand! He-he! I was looking at some of the standard sites and not getting very far but one of my UK buddies told me to check out qype.co.uk and that was great advice. The Qype site is full of information and reviews of places in the UK that you would not get on an ordinary travel site. Say for instance you are deciding on what hotel you want to stay in while you are there. They are organized so you can look at reviews of several popular hotels on one page and then drill down to find more. There is no better way to decide if you want to stay somewhere or eat in restaurants than a third party non-biased report.

I have been pretty amazed at the depth of information on pubs London has to offer. Lots of first hand reviews that thoroughly describe the facilities. There are plenty of them too, about ten of each place. Qype is apparently well visited. So once you have your place you are going to want to know restaurants London has in the area as well. Since this is a different place you need to know where and get feedback on the type of place and safety. The reviews tell it all, honest and direct. The site also provides a map that pops up immediately with the establishment you are looking at all ready pin pointed on the screen. Extremely nice touch and convenient. Ha-ha! I think I got carried away on this site! Next time I will tell you more of the plans! Later.

Football Fashion

Going on an outing can take some special thought in the outfit you wear and the fashion statement you want to make. Lots of ladies love to go to the baseball games to see the boys of summer doing their little round ball thing. Ha-ha! You see them in the stands wearing their pink version of the jersey for their team. What do you do if your bf or hubby comes home with New York Giants Tickets? You know that is going to be a whole different occasion. You are going to be in the fall and the weather will be much cooler. So you are going to need to dress warmer and hope to God he doesn’t show up with some New York Jets tickets for December!

The secret to football stadium wear is to put on layers and be able to remove or add as necessary. There are a lot of times you will see a nice warm November afternoon turn into a blizzard in some places. My brother in law loves to get Pittsburgh Steelers tickets every year and take his daughter to go see them. Luckily, last time he was in the box seats of at company he is associated with. She was able to remove her coat and show off a cardigan sweater with one of those Steeler logos on it. Some are lucky enough to be Tampa or Miami fans so they can still bring it with more fashion options. Whatever the weather you got to look your best!
