Thank You Corazan “Cory” Aquino

The Philippines mourns the loss of President Cory Aquino, today. She died yesterday at the age of 76 after suffering the disease of colon cancer. President Aquino stepped bravely into politics after a Fernando Marcos death squad murdered her husband Senator Binigno Aquino Jr who was returning to the Philippines when they assassinated him as he left his plane.

Cory Aquino led the “People Power Uprising” that drove the dictator Marcos from office and exiled him from the Philippines. She served as our President from 1986-1992 as possibly the only honest politician in our corrupt government. She was nominated as the Time Magazine Woman of the Year in 1986 for the example she set for the world.

After Cory retired she was the director of PinoyME which provided much needed loans to businesses so our economy might have a chance to flourish. She also sent thousands of Philippine children through school with scholarships provided from the charitable fund Benigno S. Aquino Foundation. Her efforts to try keeping corruption out of government were channeled through the EDSA People Power Commission, and the People Power People Movement.
I know the Lord has a special place for you in heaven Cory Aquino and that you are helping him to watch over the good people of the Philippines. Thank you for your courage and your efforts to save our country from dictatorship and corruption.

One Comment so far ...

Hopefully, the passing of Aquino will remind politicians that the people are the power and they will strive to be like her.
