I’m super jealous(:

Let’s see - it was from the movie “Legally Blond” that we heard the line “No, Jennifer, I’m sorry but orange is not this year’s new pink!” To paraphrase that one for all you wacky women out there who pay good money to look like crap on toast: “No, Tavi, Cirque du Soliel clown is not this year’s new pink!”

i think she looks gross.. her clothes are ugly and she just wants attention ..

MOST KIDS CAN DO IT , ITS CALLED PLAYING DRESS UP , ITS GREAT , BETTER THAN SITTING IN FRONT OF THE TV , OF PLAYING VIDEO GAMES. BUT AT THAT AGE SCHOOL SHOULD BE FIRST , NOT FAME ..

I’m no fashion guy, but I remeber the 80’s and when people said Madonna looked like she stood in front of her closet and it threw up on her.
Way to repeat.

weird looking

Are you kidding me? That poor little thing! She looks like a little lost kid to me. This stuff with making these kids “famous” is insane! It distorts the view of reality for other kids, and probably them too. A lot of these kids, preteens, young teens - whatever, are just being exploited by someone. I mean, hey we all want to be famous, but as adults I would hope that we acknowledge the downfalls. Anyway, God Bless her and good luck!

I think this chick is cool and all it’s also cool she’s only 13! BUT WHAT IS SHE WEARING IN THAT PIC? It looks like the stockings i had on from halloween last year my grandma’s shirt and three ugly skirts from the tacky 80s!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? I WOULD EXPECT NOTHING LESS FROM A CHILD. THIS ISNT FASHION, THIS IS DRESSING REDICULOUSLY !!!! I WOULDNT LET ANYONE BUT A CHILD LEAVE THE HOUSE DRESSED LIKE A CLOWN.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who is un-impressed. She’s a cute kid…but get her a Barbie or something…I can’t see any fashion “sense” here. I have a feeling if a not-so-skinny kid named something common like “Ann” or “Sue” wore this same thing out, no one would pay any positive attention to her whatsoever.
Enjoy your 15 minutes, Tavi, and then quit skipping school to go to fashion shows…you need to study your three R’s!

Leave her alone, people. She’s wearing what makes her comfortable, what works for HER, and that’s a big, BIG part of fashion. When you’re her age especially, you can do that. It’s her statement, we should all respect it no matter what we think, after all respect for her style (regardless of what it may seem to us) is what gets her so much attention from so many. Sure, compared to the rest of her life, it may be her 15 minutes of fame, but don’t knock it: while not likely in this case, there have been trends which lasted for years that started in somebody’s 15 minutes. Go Tavi, Rock it baby, rock it hard. :)

I think she’s quite precious. Let her have her fun.

WOW! All these comments are right on! My first thought was that her Spirograph Extreme exploded all over her! What a joke!! Where are this girls parents??? Just another sad state of our culture and values going down the tube- Who’s next- the Obama girls?

Don’t listen to them Tavi. I think your fashion is fun and bright! Be strong and be yourself. Don’t listen to them, there just haters.

I think she has very good fashion sense for her age
Her look is great for her age and size
Well put together
To DMAN; the word Ridiculous has 2 i’s not an e

I really love this outfit. I think it’s abstract, unique, and the colors are so bright and fun. She brings together clothing that must people would consider weird or freaky, but isn’t afraid to be an individual and let it shine. Who can define what is fashion? If people don’t that this is fashionable then that’s their own opinion, but style and fashion will never move forward unless people take a risk like she is.

Shes an expert? Oh silly me how could I forget that the grandmotherly clown look is in right now.

May be she has a lot of sence of humor and just joking on us and our world?

But frankly looks like she has some emotional problems (unaccepted at her school, home-family problems, whatever you name it), and she has no one to support her and to talk with, and that is her way to deal with it. She is just 13!

For now she looks ugly and totally style-less and tast-less. We (my friend and I) dressed up that way 30-something years ago at our deep-countryside summer house, piling up our grand-mothers old stuff … But we were wise enough to stay in our basement!

Dear Tavi, pls, stop it. Stop behave and dress up like Pippi Longstocking. It is fun and cool only on bookpage. In real life it looks stupid. Basically you looks very nice and not stupid at all. Begin to dress in accordance with your age and body. Return to school. If you want you could take classes on fashion, style, and you need to learn art of painting and colour combinations. With your natural dare and bold and a lot of hardwork and studies you will go good way up - in 10-12 years! Good luck!

She is expressing herself. All young girls do it. My daughter does it. She designs clothing, draws it out. Even practices different looks on herself and on her barbies. It’s natural, but for adults to take advantage of her is not right. She may be equipped to handle not only the attention but also the let down…She does seem to be well rounded and well grounded…Good Luck to her…

Okay, this is a joke right? She’s a cute kid, got the attitude of a designer, but that looks like someone is pulling a practical joke. Its too busy, in a bad way …

At 10 I was painting my shoes orange. It is very easy to appreciate a young person using a blog as a journal for her/his ideas. Were Tiva my daughter I would make sure that she keep her identity as anonymous as possible. No facial photos and no real name or photos that could identify her home or school. And I would be sure to keep a track gf any responses she may receive.

People are saying things like, she is just playing dress-up, blah, blah….but I don’t see it that way. First of all lots of kids dress the same because they are afraid of being picked on, pointed out, etc. This is someone who said, This is how I feel…this is me…..and I don’t care what you think….and she is getting recognition from the fashion world. This is obviously something she is interested in and I say….GO FOR IT! Because she could be like so many lost kids these days, doing drugs, getting pregnant, fighting with everyone, etc.

Wow, a lot of jerks out there. First of all I’m not a fan of the way she dresses and I don’t understand why she’s famous but I like that she’s confident enough at 13 to express herself. I also agree that she should definitely be focusing on school…

I’m not into 1980’s dressing anymore but this young lady is to say the least FABULOUS!!!…and retro which I think is in. Maybe she’s a little young still to be starting out but I think she knows what she wants. At least, she isn’t on the streets pedaling drugs while drinking alcohol and losing her life to maybe wind up in the slums somewhere! I know some of these SMART, OLDER Fashion Designers will help teach her the ROPES, to go to school & do things the RIGHT way!!! May God protect her from FREAKS and I hope she goes FAR in life if she continues this BRAINSTORM!!~I REST MY CASE!!~PEACE~

…AND to add SHAME on anyone older PICKING on this young girls might be BUSINESS QUEST in LIFE!!! ~*PEACE OUT*~

She is her own unique person, but, to think this is the direction our fashion is going is kind of scary. Each of us has their own style and is free to express that. The experience is good for her and maybe by her being able to do what some adults can not do by creating her own blog and pursuing her interests, she may one day create her own style and be successful at it. I hate to think that it I will have just those choices to choose from to be in style.

I am totally unimpressed. MSN did a whole article about her and I think her ‘creations’ are worse than a Cirque Du Soliel clown. Clowns dress better than her. She’s only thirteen years old and thinks she taking the world by storm just because she has a blog with a couple of photos? She’s so young - she should be focusing on school work, instead of shatting off and flying to New York. If I was her mother and father I would stop her before she gets the Miley Cyrus diva-style…..

Dear Tavi!
When I was five, my mom took me with her to two years desiners course (there was no one to leave me at home, once a week at the evening). I learned all basics of dress design, to take measures, to make drawings, to cut textiles, textile combination and so on. When I was six, my Grandma tought me to knit. At the age of 8 I went to art school to learn art of painting, color combination, anathomy and whatever needed for dress design. I practiced on my dolls, and at the age of 1o I began to make things for myself - everything from design, textile choice, drawings, to textile cutting and tailoring. At your age I already did elaborate bags, skirts, sweaters, blouses, even lace when needed. At the beginning I used old stuff for textiles, after that my mom began to buy good new textiles for me. But at the age of 22 I lost my interest totally and became a “normal” engineer.
May be you should rethink your way - in preference of learning instead of tasteless clawn dressing up under cover of “Fashion”.
You have enough good measures to become Fashion desiner, but you should learn a lot. To be desiner is not at all about dressing up in epatage way.
Good luck!

I admire her uniqueness at such a young age but I don’t get the big deal about her mostly because her style is horrid!

Tavi has got great fashion sense. Its art for cripes sake! Those other people should be ashamed to call themselves Americans! What country has the most what not to wear canidates? Us, thats who. Tavi has got an eye for art and she’s not afraid to express it the way it should be. She’s no clone! She’s an individual. So if you have nothing nice to say to her, keep it to your own unfashionable self.

tavi+her clothes= vomit all over

i dont mind some of her clothes but she thinks shes all cool and stuff and cute shes really ugly, and yuck. but i suppose its good how far shes got, shes just so ugly and pisses me off alot.

Very nice site! The article I read recently in the recently magazine seems to agree with you.Thank you for sharing!
